An American driver's license is all that's needed to drive a car in Europe. Insurance is provided by Maiellano. Driving is on the right-hand side of the road, just as it is here. Speed limits are generally higher in Europe than they are here:
Highway tolls apply in both France and Italy and are payable in Euros. Gas stations are readily available, and appear every 30 miles or so on the highways. Rest stops are also common.
